The 3M Cuno SGLP2-BL 3/8" Pushfit Dual Port Reverse Osmosis System provides two water qualities for speciality coffee and steam applications.
The twin RO membranes provide mineral-free water to the steamer. This water is treated to reduce dissolved solids and minerals that can cause scale and corrosion problems typically associated with steamers.
Water for coffee and espresso applications is first treated by the same RO process to reduce minerals and dissolved solids. The RO membranes are followed by a blending valve which adds minerals back into the water supply for Recipe Quality Water™. As a final polishing step, the water is then filtered through a cyst rated fine carbon block filter matrix to reduce any taste or odours in the water for the perfect cup of coffee.
The SGLP2-BL operates directly off of the incoming water pressure and is completely non-electric, thus reducing installation costs.
The cartridges only need to be changed approximately every 18 months. Put simply for the added improvement you will see in espresso taste and reduced machine downtime it completely makes sense to use RO water.
We have a unit in operation in our showroom so make an appointment to come down as see the benefits it will give you.
•Twin high production reverse osmosis membrane cartridges efficiently reduce dissolved mineral salts and contaminants that can cause corrosion and scale build-up.
• Blending Valve supplies Recipe Quality Water for coffee and espresso applications. Steamer is supplied with non-adjusted reverse osmosis water
• Cyst rated post filter cartridge provides great tasting water
• Sanitary Quick Change (SQC) cartridge designs are simple to maintain and reduce the possibility of contamination during change-outs. No spills, no mess.
• Compact rugged powder coated steel bracket design allows for installation in tight areas and is rust and corrosion resistant.
• Non-electric design reduces installation costs.
• Auto-bypass valve ensures water availability at peak operating times.
• FDA CFR-21 and/or NSF compliant materials are suitable for potable water applications.

- How many amps does this 3m reverse osmosis require?
Hi, the system runs of mains pressure so requires no electrical power. If you have low main pressure, ie under 3.5 bar then you will need a booster pump and that will require a 13 amp socket.
Many thanks
- am interested in bulk brewing coffees for restaurant, would you suggest the use of this RO machine or is there a cheaper alternative?
If you can afford it or want the best water for your coffee production then this is the system to get. For coffee brewing take a look at the BUNN ICB brewer we have listed.
Many thanks
- Does this have two lines - Pure RO, and then a different blended line? i.e. 1 to espresso machine and 1 to separate filter boiler
What is the TDS of the water from the pure RO line?
Is the 'blending valve' easily adjustable, and easily accessible?
What does "Auto-bypass valve ensures water availability at peak operating times." mean?
Hi,
It does have 2 outputs. One for brew boiler, one steam boiler.
TDS of pure RO is approx 30ppm. Blending valve is on top of the unit and easily accessible and adjustable.
The system runs optimally at incoming line pressure of 6 bar, you may need a booster pump to achieve that.
The auto bypass activates if the system runs out of water, the by-pass then opens and allows untreated water in. Although it has gone through the pre-filter.
- I have experience of smaller RO units for domestic use, What is this system like with regards to waste water? It would be nice to find a true RO unit that didn't generate about 10 gallons of waste water for every pint used and I have heard that larger professional units aren't so juicy, or is that only providing that it is more or less in constant use?
In theory if the unit had a high enough turn over rate, it would be possible to incorporate some sort of automatic shut off valve that cuts off the water feed when equipment is not drawing water directly from it, would this units turn over rate allow for this kind of on-demand use?
Hi,
Waste is about 50%. The unit comes with a 10L storage pressure tank, once the tank is full the units stops producing. Then when water is drawn it starts again.
Hope this answers your questions.
