Description
The Rhino Accutemp is a fundamentally different approach to milk temperature monitoring — a liquid crystal stick-on strip that adheres directly to the outside of your pitcher and reads temperature through the stainless steel wall, with no probe, no clip, and nothing inside the jug at all.
How It Works
The Accutemp uses liquid crystal technology — the same principle found in laboratory temperature strips — to display temperature by colour change. As the milk heats during steaming, the liquid crystal indicators on the strip turn from green to black as each temperature marker is reached. The reading is instant — faster than an analogue probe thermometer, which has a slight delay as the dial catches up to the actual milk temperature. The Accutemp is always showing you the current temperature of the milk at the contact point on the pitcher wall, with no lag.
The temperature range covers 45°C to 70°C, which spans from below steaming temperature through to well above the ideal milk range — the sweet spot of 60–65°C sits clearly within the visible scale.
No Probe — Essential for Stealth Pitchers
Because the Accutemp reads through the pitcher wall rather than inserting a probe into the milk, it is the only thermometer compatible with the Rhino Stealth range of non-stick coated pitchers. Metal probe thermometers inserted into a Stealth pitcher will scratch and permanently damage the non-stick coating — Rhino specifically recommend the Accutemp as the correct solution for Stealth users. It works equally well on Classic and Pro pitchers.
Application & Care
Peel the backing and adhere the strip to the facing side of the pitcher, positioned as low as possible so the strip sits below the level of the milk during a typical serve. Apply flat and bubble-free for best thermal contact and accurate readings. The adhesive maintains grip through repeated washing. The Accutemp is dishwasher safe below 80°C — for best longevity, hand washing with warm soapy water is recommended.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is the Rhino Accutemp different from a standard milk thermometer?
The Accutemp is a liquid crystal strip that sticks to the outside of the pitcher and reads temperature through the stainless steel wall — there is no probe, stem, or clip involved. Standard analogue thermometers use a metal probe inserted into the milk, with a dial that has a slight lag as it catches up to the actual temperature. The Accutemp responds instantly as the pitcher wall heats, has nothing inside the jug to get in the way of steaming, and stays permanently on the pitcher rather than being attached and removed each use. It also does not need calibration.
Why is the Accutemp recommended for Rhino Stealth pitchers?
Rhino Stealth pitchers have a non-stick coating on the interior that is damaged by metal probe thermometers — the probe scratches the surface on contact. The Accutemp reads temperature from the outside of the pitcher wall, so it never makes contact with the coated interior. It is the only thermometer Rhino recommend for use with the Stealth range and is the compatible alternative to the analogue and digital probe models.
Where should I place the Accutemp on the pitcher?
Place the strip on the side of the pitcher that faces you during steaming, positioned as low as possible on the body — ideally below the level the milk will sit at during a standard serve. This ensures the strip is in contact with the milk-heated area of the pitcher wall rather than reading air temperature above the milk line. Peel the backing carefully, apply flat, and press firmly to avoid air bubbles which reduce thermal contact.
Is the Rhino Accutemp dishwasher safe?
Yes, below 80°C. The strip is rated for dishwasher use and the adhesive maintains grip through repeated washing cycles. For best longevity of the adhesive and crystal display, hand washing with warm soapy water is recommended. Do not expose to temperatures above 80°C.
What temperature range does the Accutemp cover?
The Accutemp displays temperatures from 45°C to 70°C — covering the full range from below steaming temperature through to above the ideal milk zone. The ideal target for most espresso milk drinks is 60–65°C, which sits clearly within the strip's display range. Above 65°C the milk begins to lose sweetness and texture quality; the Accutemp makes this easy to monitor at a glance as the indicators change colour.
