If you’re considering creating your own home barista set-up, then you already appreciate the need to have perfectly roasted beans and a quality burr grinder. Baratza are known for making a wide range of impressive grinders suited to varied grinding needs, but how do you choose the right one for you? As your go-to coffee experts, we’re here to help. So, if you’re asking, “Baratza Encore vs Virtuoso+?”, let’s help you decide.

Baratza Encore

The Baratza Encore is a great entry level grinder with straightforward controls that make it easy to brew a wide range of filter. With a manual on/off switch and a hopper which is rotated to provide 40 different grind settings, the Encore is a budget friendly way of getting into electric coffee grinding.

The 40 grind settings with coarseness ranging from 250 – 1200 microns, give the versatility to grind for manual and electric coffee brewers, giving you the chance to experiment and explore different tastes and blends. And the European manufactured conical burrs are super easy to clean.

If you’re looking for an excellent electric coffee grinder that won’t put a large dent in your wallet, the Baratza Encore is a great place to start.

Baratza Virtuoso+

The Baratza Virtuoso+ could be considered a step up from the Encore and has upgraded conical burrs that give a more uniform and finer grind, great if you use an espresso machine.

Just like the Encore, the Virtuoso+ is extremely versatile, offering 40 grind settings, but the upgraded burrs allow for a wider grind range, 200 -1200 microns, meaning it can grind for anything from a French press through to an espresso machine.

The digital front display incorporates a 40 second timer that is adjustable to one-tenth of a second and its pulse feature makes it perfect for direct dosing into a portafiller. For longer grinds, there are LEDs in the grounds bin, designed to improve visibility and reduce wastage. And the Virtuoso+ grinds twice as fast as the Encore, making it great for heavy use.

If you want to brew lots of different types of coffee or have invested in an espresso machine, you can’t go far wrong with investing in a Baratza Virtuoso+

No matter which Baratza you choose, you’ll benefit from a 2 year warranty and the option of out of warranty repairs from as little as £59.
